Sussex Mills Group promotes the study and the restoration of mills and associated artifacts within the counties of East and West Sussex in the United Kingdom.
Many Members are actively involved in the restoration and maintenance of Sussex mills. Sussex Mills Group also organises occasional working parties, when Members get together for specific projects, such as clearing out a mill pond, painting weatherboarding, assisting with the fitting or removal of a windmill's sweeps, or just tidying up in advance of an open day.
The Mills Open page gives details of those Sussex mills open to visitors.
On National Mills Weekend many windmills and watermills throughout the country and across Europe open their doors to visitors. Some mills are only open on this one weekend. Special events are held at many of the mills.
Sussex Mills Group organises visits to mills across Sussex and neighbouring counties.
The traditional Windmills and watermills of Sussex present ideal venues for students of all ages to study at first hand many aspects of the National Curriculum and provide numerous educational opportunities.
