IL 1831

I was curious to find out what became of those who served them over this period.

Some are recorded in Our Society's publication "Clayton Windmills" compiled by Simon Potter and others are traced in Clayton Churchyard.

At the foot of Duncton Down stands the ancient Church of St. John The Baptist, and there, in the churchyard, within sight of the Windmills, lie some of the Millers.

Reference to the "Monumental Inscriptions in the Parish of Clayton" leads to many names which were associated with the Mills. The inscriptions were copied on 3rd June 1976 by members of the Sussex Family History Group, and we are indebted to them for this information.
